Beecome a Buzz in the City artist

Are you a talented artist looking for an exciting, high-profile creative event that will help your artwork reach a wider audience?

We need professional and amateur artists to design and decorate the 35 giant bee sculptures that will make up the Buzz in the City art trail through Chelmsford’s streets and parks.

How it works

You are invited to submit up to five designs for the bee and its honeycomb by Friday 31 January 2025. If you are selected, you will be given a sculpture to paint with your approved design which will then be displayed as part of the art trail for 10 weeks from early July.

Buzz in the City is expected to attract thousands of visitors who will see your work and read about you on the trail’s mobile app, website and social media.
After the trail closes, the statue will be auctioned to raise money for Farleigh Hospice.

This is a unique, unmissable opportunity to raise awareness of your work, while supporting the local hospice charity. To find out more, please download the Buzz in the City artist information pack here

What's in it for me as an artist

Commissioned artists will reach a sizeable audience online and in person. You will receive positive publicity on the project website and our social media channels in the run-up to the event. Artists will be credited in the printed map produced and distributed during the trail and also on the mobile app.

As a commissioned artist, you will also be able to use the official Farleigh Hospice art trail logo on your own website and marketing materials.

Bee part of the Buzz

Farleigh Hospice is a registered charity (no. 284670) which provides hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across mid Essex. Since being established in 1982, our hospice and our team of healthcare professionals has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of the community we serve.

All of the services we provided are available the people of mid Essex, completely free of charge.

With approximately 44% of our yearly running costs being funded by the local NHS, we rely on the support and goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the over £21,271 it costs to provide our services each day.

Create a lasting legacy, not only impacting the families accessing Farleigh Hospice services today but also for the families that will be accessing our services in the future.
